Yes, you read the title correctly! I have been on a mad search to find a healthier alternative to sugar. I absolutely love starting my day with a mug full of black tea with lemon juice and sugar, but I know that the sugar isn't always the best for me. I've tried Spenda, Equal, Truvia and Sweet n Low, but they all have a weird after taste that I can't tolerate. And the Truvia didn't agree with my stomach.
On my mad hunt to find a natural alternative to the my over-processed white sugar, I ran into several articles about Clean Eating. (This is truly a whole other posting topic, but I will give you the highlights in respect to sugar.) Clean eating is all about eating natural, organic foods that have little to no processing. Sugar is processed. Even brown sugar is processed and chemically altered in some way. When food is altered from its natural state, additives, preservatives, and all types of other potentially unhealthy things are added to the food, which we then digest. Yes, we are all living and breathing after eating a bag or two of Cheetos during our lifetime, but we know they are not the healthiest thing we could be eating.
So sugar which is processed, and we know should generally be consumed in minimal amounts when you are dieting has some natural alternatives. Enter Organic Agave Nectar. If you read the ingredients list, not only can you pronounce all of the ingredients listed BUT there is only one. Organic Agave Nector. It's also gluten-free, allergen-free and kosher certified. AND IT TASTES GOOD! I felt like I put honey in my tea. This is definitely going to become a part of my diet plan. I purchased this brand for about $7.
I'm just like you about the sweetners ... they def. leave a weird after taste ... that is why i don't drink diet drinks ... i hate the after taste.
ReplyDeleteI will have to find this and see how I like it.
Let me know if you like it! I really don't mind it at all.
