Life Lesson from Marilyn Monroe

So while I was surfing on the internet I came across this quote, and it really made me think:

“I believe that everything happens for a reason. People change so that you can learn to let go, things go wrong so that you appreciate them when they're right, you believe lies so you eventually learn to trust no one but yourself, and sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.”
― Marilyn Monroe

This quote really made me think about my own life and some of the things that I have experienced. In life people come and go and eventually you have to learn how to let go, I wrote a post about letting go before and this quote just made things more clear to me. People change all of the time sometimes for the better and sometime for the worse, but either way you have to learn how to let go of some people and move on.

I could go on and on about how I interpreted this quote, but I just wanted to share it with you guys. As we get ready to enter a new year its important to reflect on what went well and what went wrong and realize that everything will work itself out on its own. If this year it felt like everything went wrong, in 2012 you will be able to really appreciate life all the more and accept things for what they are. So although it is not quite 2012 yet, I just want to wish everyone a great year of peace, happiness, and success!

  1. This is one of my most favorite quotes! Marilyn had a lot of good quotes that made a lot of sense considering she was supposed to be so ditsy lol. I love her though and I love this quote. It means a lot to me and whenever I feel like the world is crashing down around me, I actually think about this quote because it says it all. i read a few of your newer posts too about your weight loss goals for the new year. I know that you can do it! You just need to have faith in yourself. It seems to me that you don't really believe that you can do it! I might be wrong (because I am a lot of the time haha) but have some faith in your abilities! You are much stronger than you think you are and you are capable of doing anything you set your mind to. The hardest part is getting started. Once you get going, you'll be fine. The second hardest part is keeping it up when you aren't seeing the results you want to see. Everybody goes through this that is trying to lose weight. You're not alone. There might be weeks that go by without any loss, but you just have to keep pushing through it. try some interval training (I need to take this advice myself lol....and I plan to do so in the next few days). The key is to keep your body guessing. If you keep doing the same things over and over again, your body will stop responding and you'll hit that plateau we all hate so much. A few things I have learned from others who have been successful.....

    1. As I already stated, switch up your exercise routine. Don't do the same thing every time. It's good to have a focus area on certain days. One day upper body, one day lower, one day cardio, etc. But even then, don't do the same things. Do some boxing one day for upper (also will give you a good cardio workout) and then next time lift some weights. Do treadmill for cardio one day and dancing another. See where I'm going with this?

    2. Count calories and keep a journal. It's annoying as HELL. I'll be the first to admit. But it works. It really really does. I use myfitnesspal.com and the have the app on my Android. It's fabulous. Set your calorie goal under the normal range. For those of us who want to lose weight, a good range is anywhere between 1200-1600 per day. And again, switch that up. Do 1200 a week, then do 1400 the next. Then go back to 1200 the next week. Never let your body get used to what you are doing.

    3. Take your measurements on a monthly basis and weigh yourself daily (weekly minimum). This way you can see what is working and what is not. And the measurements will keep you motivated because even if you're not losing pounds, if you have been doing what you should be doing I guarantee you will lose inches.

Hopefully this book that I just wrote to you will be helpful! If you need some motivation or someone to cheer you on, it sounds like you have a wonderful friend already, but you can always stop by my page or shoot me an email and I'll send you some positive vibes :)

Happy New Year and Happy Losing!

  2. That meant so much! Thanks so much for the encouragement. I know that I can do it, but as soon as I stop seeing results, that's when everything falls apart. But this time is different I have to prove to myself that I can do it. I really appreciate your tips. i actually signed up for a personal trainer and I meet with him tonight, I am so nervous but I know this is the push that I need!
