How did you do it? with Chasidy

We are always asking the question of anyone who has had success in weight loss, "How did you do it?" So let's meet Chasidy from MyFitnessPal, and find out how she did it.

***And I must say THIS woman is PHENOMENAL. Period. I have gone to her for advice, feedback, and support several times and she never fails to not motivate me. Love her. ***

Name: Chasidy
Approximate Body Stats: 5'5" 171 pounds; measurements 36, 33, 43

1. What is your current state in your personal weight loss journey?
My current state in my personal weight loss journey is about 3/4 the way done. I have lost 76 pounds so far and I'm not done by any means. My first goal weight was originally 150 pounds, but the more I lose, the more I realized I can get smaller then that. My ticker is now set to 135 pounds. =) Which is very exciting to me because I've never been that 'small' =D

2. When did you start your weight loss journey?
I started this journey on August 1, 2011 with my husband. I'm currently the smallest I've ever been in my adult life and I couldn't be more happier.

3. What got you motivated to start losing weight?
My husband and I watched Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition with Chris Powell Season 1. He personally takes his time to help 8 individuals who are morbidly obese to lose 200 pounds or more in JUST ONE YEAR! He really does an amazing job! So much in fact that after seeing the VERY FIRST EPISODE my husband and I knew it was time to make a change for the rest of our lives. If "they" could do it, then there's no excuse for us. And that is our attitude.

And I cannot recommend the movie "Fat Head" enough. It is a good watch so you wont be bored and will blow your mind on what you will learn. And I will go out my way to get this movie and information to people because it goes against medical studies that have been paid to follow their views.

4. What combination of food and exercise worked best for you?
In the beginning of our journey we did the low cal, but we watched Fat Head and our lives have changed seriously since that movie. We are on a low carb lifestyle because that movie explained so much. If you have time here is the link!

Here are my settings..30g Carbs, 40g Fat, 180g Protein. No, it's not for everyone, but it's what is working for me. =) We have an AMAZING low carb pizza! If you want to try it, here is a link to a post my husband created.
We eat ground turkey salisbury style with mashed cauliflower or cauliflower rice and brown gravy. Those are just a few of the many yummy things we eat that are healthy for us!

There are good carbs and there are the obvious bad carbs. The carbs I eat mainly come from veggies. (cabbage, green beans, etc.) But I don't eat corn or carrots, way too starchy and too many carbs. Now for your healthy rice alternative. You get a head of Cauliflower and you cut it up so it can fit in a food processor and the food processor will chop it up like a rice like texture. Once you've done that, get a microwave save bowl, don't add any water, and microwave for 3-4 mins if you have a lot. You can add butter, salt, pepper if you like. It will be the consistency of rice when it's done, no doubt about it. Here's a video that show's you step by step how to do it! (You'll have to copy and paste the link in a new browser.)
I've had it many times and it's really really good. If you want to have a mashed cauliflower (yes tastes better then mashed potatoes!) You would microwave the cauliflower without using the food processor, just cut it up with a knife. Microwave for 3-4 mins or so and you will mash the cauliflower when it's done. You can add anything you add to your mashed potatoes, this is just a healthier and tastier version! I swear by them both!
As far as exercise I love the treadmill and I like to break it up into two times a day (10-15 mins, you can't beat it, but I was on at least 3.3-4 MPH with 3 all the way up to 7 incline! =) We wanted to workout together and since we only had one treadmill we got into Jillian Michaels 30DS and Ripped in 30 (It's really only like 27 mins and it goes by really fast! )

5. Who is your body idol?
This is a very tough question for me because I am not really sure what I will look like when I get to my goal weight. I know I want a flat stomach so I can get my belly button pierced and wear a bikini for the first time in my adult life!

6. Share with us your favorite healthy meal or snack.
Here are a few great snacks to get you through the day. String cheese, pepperoni (you can heat them up in the microwave for 10 seconds) Almonds (walmart has this brand Emerald, they have a cocoa roast and dry roasted, both are really tasty) IF YOU LOVE CHOCOLATE!?! There are these Atkin Advantage bars-Caramel Chocolate Nut Roll they taste just like a Baby Ruth!!

7. What is your favorite fat-shedding workout?
I swear by Jillian Michaels 30 day shred and Jillian Michaels Ripped in 30! It's only 27 mins from warm up to cool down! YOU CANNOT BEAT THAT KIND OF WORKOUT! She teaches so much in her videos.

8. Any helpful tips, tricks, or encouragement you’d like to share.
Once you start to see food as fuel for the body, you'll only want to put what's good for you in there. One of my friends on MyFitnessPal wrote a little quote that stuck with me. It said "What you eat in private, you wear in public" Think of your body as a fire place and food as logs, you have to eat every 2-3 hours to keep the fire lit. Know you can do anything you set your mind to, I promise, I'm living proof! No one says it's going to be easy, but in the end it's worth it. You ARE worth it! Hard work, dedication, and time will get you to your end result. DON'T TRY TO 'RUSH' You have to take it one day at a time. Be glad you made the choice to start, that way when a WHOLE YEAR GOES by, you'll be thankful you did. Time flies by so fast.
