An Old Lesson Re-Learned

In life I feel that we go through some of the same situations and experience some of the same feelings and emotions, and most of the time its our fault. For example I have a couple of friends who have the same problems in relationships with different men. In my head once I am experiencing the same problem more that one time and different people are involved, I automatically check myself, but this is not true for everyone. Some people just don;t want to admit that they're wrong but at some point in life you really have to grow up and realize that it can't always be the other person's fault, you have to begin to own up to being a part of the problem.

Everyone knows that one of the keys to a good relationship is communication; if you weren't aware, you just learned something for the day! This is one lesson that I have learned in the past and I am constantly re-learning. I know that I'm not a mind reader and I know for sure that my boyfriend isn't either, sometimes we are way off track but gladly we always find a way back to each other :)

When I was younger I had a hard time expressing myself and my feelings especially in relationships because I never wanted to hurt the other person's feelings; but what I wasn't realizing is that by being so concerned about the other person's feelings I was the one hurting and losing sleep, which is not cool. Now I have gotten to the point where I say whats on my mind because if I don't I can't get mad if you dont know what the problem is.

I just wanted to put this out there, because I feel that so many young women lose themselves trying to make their man happy.....my question is where does that get you? By giving so much of yourself and not receiving the same or more in return it makes no sense to be in a relationship. No man OR woman is worth suppressing your feelings, if you can't voice your opinion and express your feelings to your significant other without there being a problem you really need to check your relationship.

Relationships are always filled with ups and downs and Lord knows I have experienced both with my boyfriend, but I appreciated the fact that at the end of the day I know I can go to him and let him know how I feel. I definitely had to check myself this weekend, every once in awhile you just have to do it!
