Week 9 Independence Day Challenge

This Week's Highs
I was able to keep up with my arm workout in the evenings almost every day this week. I am also really on top of my intuitive eating. I am currently reading French Women Don't Get Fat and it has been really eye opening. And by eye opening, I don't mean that I learned some new life-changing weight loss strategy, but it really made me think about how I eat my meals and snacks throughout the day. I will most likely be writing  a little review when I am finished so I can give ya'll the full scoop.

This Week's Lows
SOOOO. Still no movement on the scale which is super depressing. I was down about 2lbs on Wednesday of last week, but when I hopped on the scale on Saturday (my real weigh in day), I was back up...and then some. It may just be that wrong time of the month... if you catch my drift, since my clothes are still fitting the same. After reading the book I mentioned above, I think I may just stop going on the scale altogether until my clothes are falling off my body. Yes, you read that correctly. The scale really alters my mood when the results are not in my favor. I don't think I will be able to completely avoid the scale, so maybe I can try to limit it to 1 time per month.

How often do you weight in?

  1. Hey Kimberly! Ashley Marie here from SITS! I will definitely be following you! I can use all the help I can get in the fitness world! I weigh in every Sunday around the exact same time. I used to weigh in every morning at the exact same time after my morning bathroom break but before my workout & breakfast but I found that that made me cranky of the numbers weren't what I wanted them to be. So! I made sure I was burning more calories than I was eating that week and if I stuck with my plan I was never let down on Sunday mornings. (unless I was carrying water weight) Hope this helps! Good luck and I can't wait to read more!

    1. Thanks Ashley! That definitely does help. If you put the necessary work in during the week, then you know that your hard work will pay off on weigh in day.

  2. I avoid the scale for the same reasons. It is tough to really guide your weight loss when you are also doing weight training. Of course muscles weighs more than fat but take up less space on the body. Also your body tends to retain water after an intense workout when your muscles are sore. So you really can't acurrately gauge your progress by the scale alone. If your clothes are fitting the same or tighter then yep you need to figure out where you went wrong. I don't like to weight myself either so I vowed to keep it far away..LOL! I tend to just focus on how I feel, how my clothes fit and how I look. There are days I feel slim and tight and the scale hasn't budged. :)

    1. Uuugh! I can totally relate. My waist bans are still nice and roomy, but the number on the scale fluctuates so much. Although I know that the number can make or break my day sometimes, I still weigh in. I need to ask my fiance to hide my scale somewhere in the house so I cannot find it to torture myself too frequently!

  3. I admit I weight in daily. I just can't help myself. I feel so out of sorts if I don't weight in. It's a habit I have going and it doesn't really bother me to see the scale on a daily basis. I just try to watch my overall weekly weight and where it is at, that is my measure of how things are really going. I use a app on my Android phone to log my weight each day called Libra. It's great, I like the graph so I can see where I have been and how it's going. Lately it has been going up. LOL Great site you two, have a great day.

    1. Becka, Thanks for stopping by! I used to weigh in daily as well, but that was too much for me. lol. It is really good that you can stand back and look at it from an informational point of view. I would to have loved to be using that app when I was weighing in everyday so I could actually have a sense of when my body weight naturally fluctuates during the month. Thanks for the app!

  4. I hate the scale but I weigh myself daily.

I do it because then there are no surprises. I know exactly where I am and what I need to do. Doesn't mean that sometimes I don't feel like throwing the scale out of the window because I do :)

    1. Hahaha. I can totally relate. I am shocked that my scale hasn't endured at least a swift kick after giving me my weight on weigh-in day.
