#50in52: Week 1

Once a week, I am going to update everyone on the 50 lbs in 52 weeks challenge that I am doing with Chelle from Everyday Polish. I'll talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly of committing to losing weight once and for all. 

Last week, I revealed that I have actually been following Weight Watchers to aid in my weight loss efforts. I began on September 5th and made a few small strides, so I will be including that time in my 50in52. And don't worry... I didn't lose a significant number either. For the month of September it totals to 2.4lbs, 1.6 of which I lost this past week. (WoooooHoooo!)

This past week was honestly a little crazy too. I followed WW exactly all the way through till late Monday night when I had to make an emergency drive back home because my sister was going into labor! Monday is my longest day of the week since I don't get home until after 9pm, so I was eating well.... until I needed to chug some energy drinks to make the 3 hour drive to my sister. At the hospital, I just ate pure junk... until Wednesday night when I left after 9pm. I did drink a lot of water, and managed to eat reasonably for the main meals... but I also had chips... and sugar laden tea and coffee to keep myself awake. 

Yes, that is 7lbs, 9oz and 21 inches of perfection. 

Amber and I always say that when we claim that we eat bad... it is normally not even that bad, which would make sense. When I say bad, it means that I am eating foods that are normally "forbidden", like Pringles. (#yummmm). I did polish off a whole can of BBQ Pringles in 2 days... but I was also on my feet helping my sister and drinking water to compensate for the salt, so who knows?

Conversely, I was able to exercise twice last week. I have decided to really focus on cardio and yoga. In the past I was always heavy on the weight training, but never was able to see too much fat loss, so I am changing it up this time around. My aim is to get in at least 2 cardio workouts and 1 yoga workout each week. Last week I got 50 minutes of cardio and a 90 minute bikram yoga session before the madness started, so I won't complain too much. I also wore a pedometer and tried to increase my steps each day too. 

This week will still be hectic since I am heading back to see my sister AND today is my amazing husband's birthday so we are going out, but I will try my best to keep everything in moderation.

  1. that is great news! congrats on losing.

    i have also figured out that cardio works best for me when i'm trying to drop lbs. i still weight train but i do cardio a bit more.

    i finally got serious in July with my weight loss and actually feel like i see the difference. i'm looking forward to continuing our get healthy goals together :)

    1. Thanks Faith! xoxo I guess I had to do the same (wait till I get serious). I'm excited! and I need to get my body right and tight so I can look super fly like you! #teamcardio. I will let you know how it goes.
